Slow Cooker Sweet Potatoes

There are two days per year when the oven is at its highest demand. The first is Thanksgiving when it's full of turkeys, stuffing, and pie. The second is the weekend before Christmas when cookie after cookie is being transformed from dough into snowmen, candy canes, and bells. I won't be one of those people that bombard you with Christmas before you even get turkey on the table. Today, we're still talking Thanksgiving. And we bring you a recipe that doesn't use *drum roll, please* the oven. Bonus tip, for recipes that don't use the crock pot but you want to make ahead (like mashed potatoes or stuffing), keep them warm in a crock pot until you're ready to serve! 

Whether you're hosting your family and friends or a guest bringing a dish, you can throw the following ingredients in the crock pot, turn it on low for three hours or high for five, and get back to the other 18 things on your to-do list. Busy people, we have your back.

Ingredients

  • 3 Large Sweet Potatoes
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 3 Tablespoons Maple Syrup (can substitute brown sugar)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 2 Tablespoons Butter

Directions

  1. Chop sweet potatoes
  2. Cut butter into small cubes
  3. Add all ingredients to a crock pot and mix to distribute seasonings
  4. Cook on high 5-6 hours or low for 3
